This is Bird Tree Urban Farm; let me say hello. It has been more than 20 years since Greg had the vision to buy a duplex lot and a house built in the 1800s in Revelstoke. Greg and Kristina settled down in Revelstoke for good in 2012. In order to recover less than a quarter of an acre of lawn, Kristina got to work. Creating a greenhouse and a propagation house, making permanent planting beds, planting perennials for berry crops, and creating distinctive flower stems. Kristina is incredibly lucky to have been allowed access to two remote acres to expand the farm upon, as the demand for food and flowers continues to climb. Terra Firma Farms' Rob and Terra have kindly given me permission to use their packing shed as a growing facility. The field staff may wash, gather, weigh, and bag all of the crops while gazing out at a picturesque flower field. My floral endeavors have the full backing of Terra! My third season on their land will be in 2023, and I'm looking forward to the good energy that comes from sharing some of my agricultural days with this amazing group of individuals. Off Airport Rd., to the south of town, is my second rural property. Refuge Farm, a group of farmers and foragers that relocated to the valley in 2022, shares my property. This is the perfect spot for my long-season crops, which require less attention but have plenty of room to develop. This land is the source of my garlic, winter squash, and pumpkin varieties.
